Works with public videos, Reels and finished live streams on Facebook. No sign-up, no pop-ups, nothing to install.

How to download

  1. Copy the video link. In the Facebook app, tap Share and then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address shown in the browser bar while the video is open.
  2. Paste the link in the box above. The Paste button does it in one tap. You can also paste a whole message: the site finds the Facebook link inside the text.
  3. Pick a quality. HD to keep the sharpest picture, SD to save space and data, or audio only as MP3. On your phone, the Send or save button opens the share menu straight away, with WhatsApp and the option to save to your gallery.

The video is saved to your device's downloads folder, named after the post's title. You don't need an account, an email address or a browser extension.

Why it's safe to download here

Plenty of people give up on download sites out of fear, and fairly so: many of them open fake windows, switch tabs on their own and scatter "Download" buttons that are really ads. ClipsKeep was built to be the opposite.

If something on the site looks off, like a page asking you to install something or a virus warning, close the tab: it isn't us. We never show that kind of message.

What the site does and doesn't do

ClipsKeep is for saving public Facebook videos and your own posts, so you can watch them offline, send them to someone or keep a copy of something you published.

What it does:

What it doesn't do:

Remember that whoever posted the video still owns it. Saving it to watch later is one thing; reposting it as your own is another. If you made a video and don't want it downloaded from here, see the copyright and removal page.

When downloading makes sense

A few situations where having the file on your device saves the day:

How it works behind the scenes

When you paste a link, the ClipsKeep server opens the video's public page, the way a logged-out browser would, and finds the addresses of the video files that Facebook itself makes available. It then shows you the quality options it found.

When you pick one, the file is passed from Facebook to your device. If picture and sound are stored separately, the server joins them on the fly, without re-encoding the picture, so no quality is lost. Nothing is kept once the download finishes, except a clip you cut, which is deleted within 15 minutes. The temporary addresses expire within minutes.

Reels, live videos, audio and GIFs

Each kind of video has its quirks, so each one has its own page with specific tips:

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Every option is free and there's no daily video limit for normal use. The site is paid for by low-key ads, shown away from the download buttons.

Does it work on my phone?

It works on Android phones and iPhones, right in the browser. On Android, the file goes to the Downloads folder. On iPhone, it goes to the Files app, and the Send or save button lets you send the video straight to the Photos app. The Android and iPhone guides show the way with pictures.

Why does it say the video is private?

The site can only download what anyone can see without logging in. Videos from closed groups, from profiles with a restricted audience or shared with friends of friends are left out. The guide on private videos explains why and what you can do instead.

The video downloaded with no sound. What happened?

For many videos, Facebook stores the picture and the audio as separate files. Choose the highest quality option: the server joins both before sending it to you. More detail in the guide on videos with no sound.

The video opened and started playing instead of downloading. Now what?

That shouldn't happen here, because the server tells the browser the file is a download. If it happens in an older browser, press and hold (or right-click) the download option and choose "Save link as".

Do you keep the videos I download?

No. The file passes through the server straight from Facebook to you and is never stored. We don't keep the list of links people paste either. The only exception is Cut a clip: the clip sits in a temporary file on the server for at most 15 minutes, just so you can download it, and is then deleted. The details are in the privacy policy.

Can I download a video from a Facebook group?

Only from public groups, where anyone can see the posts without joining. Videos shared in private groups stay inside the group: the site has no way in, and that's on purpose, to respect the people who posted there.

What's the difference between HD and SD?

HD has a sharper picture and a bigger file. SD is lighter, loads fast and takes up less space, which makes it great for sending in a chat. If the video is going to stay on your phone or play on a TV, go for HD.

Can I download just part of a video?

Yes. After you look up the video, tap Cut a clip, drag the start and end markers (or press play and tap Set start and Set end at the right moment) and tap Cut clip. It's handy for sending just the part that matters on WhatsApp or posting it to your status. The full video is still there in the download options.

Can I make a GIF from the video?

Yes. After you look up the video, tap Cut a clip, pick up to 10 seconds with the start and end markers and tap Make GIF. The GIF is put together on your own phone or computer, with no sound and looping forever, ready to save or send on WhatsApp. It never goes through our server. See the step-by-step guide to making a GIF.
